Hi, I'm Sureka, a second-year M.Sc. student in Applied Psychology focusing on Counseling. I'm preparing for the NET exam and gaining practical experience through internships. My goal is to achieve financial independence, support my family, and become a professor and practising counsellor. To support my family, I do part-time work and provide tuition for kids in the evening.
My family consists of my parents and younger brother. My father works in a fruit shop, and my mother assists him. My brother is in the 11th standard. During a financial crisis when my father's health declined, my HOD suggested joining the WEP Madurai Academy. They provided a scholarship and opportunities to improve my skills. The supportive and open-minded staff also offer emotional support, enhancing my overall development.
Hi, I'm Muniyammal. My time at WEP Academy has been amazing. The academy taught me the importance of setting and achieving goals and overcoming obstacles. One key course I've taken is Spoken English, which has been crucial for my ambitions. With WEP's guidance, I feel confident about my future. They also taught me self-defence skills like Karate along with Yoga. I'm currently in my second year of BA in English at St. George’s Jeyaraj Chelladurai College. Coming from a farming family, I am very passionate about agriculture. However, we've faced many financial challenges. My father initially supported my education, but his financial struggles made it hard to continue. I worked in agriculture after school to support my studies until WEP awarded me a scholarship, easing our financial burden and giving me hope for a better future.
Hello, my name is Yamini. I first heard about WEP through a friend and was immediately drawn to it. From the moment I joined, I was welcomed with open arms. The warm and inviting atmosphere at WEP is something I truly cherish. I pursued my TNPSC course at WEP, however my college commitments meant I couldn't attend as many WEP courses as I would have liked. Thankfully, the WEP scholarship provided invaluable assistance. The residential training at WEP has been transformative, instilling me with boldness and confidence. WEP's goal-setting program has helped me articulate and pursue my aspirations, and the community's support has been incredible. Currently, I am an undergraduate at EMG Yadhava Women’s College. My family includes my younger brother, my father who runs a small vessel shop, and my mother, a devoted homemaker.
Hi there, I'm Sona, currently pursuing my second year of post-graduation in Computers. Before I found the WEP Academy, I faced significant financial challenges in paying for my education. Unfortunately, my father struggled with alcoholism, which created a difficult home environment. However, my mother stepped up and supported me by taking a personal loan from a friend to fund my undergraduate studies. When I discovered the WEP Academy, I was able to enrol as a student and receive a scholarship that has made a tremendous impact on my life. Sadly, my father is no longer with us, and over the past three years, my association with WEP has brought about positive behavioural changes, leading to a significant boost in my self-confidence.
WEP's impact on my life went beyond academics. While financial support from Viji ma'am and Mrs. Bhavani Parameshwar allowed me to chase my dream of becoming a pharmacist, their unwavering support and guidance provided the emotional strength I needed to succeed. Their generosity extended to helping my sister as well. WEP also offered valuable workshops that equipped me with practical skills like spoken English and basic computer knowledge. I am incredibly grateful to everyone at WEP for empowering me to reach my full potential.
Present Status: Quality Control analyst at Pharmafabrikon, Madurai
I began my educational journey at WEP in 2018. Initially, I thought WEP only offered scholarships for women, but I soon discovered its vast academic environment. Despite significant financial challenges, I managed to fund my first year of college with Rs. 24000 earned from National Talent Exams and by taking up part-time jobs. The Covid crisis made our struggles worse and with my father working in Coimbatore, finances became tight. I approached Viji ma’am for assistance, despite feeling guilty, and with support from Bhavani ma’am, who had already helped my sister, I completed my B.Tech with distinction. WEP's nurturing environment and unwavering support helped me overcome challenges and develop essential skills such as communication, goal-setting, and time management. I am profoundly grateful to Viji ma’am, Bhavani ma’am, and the WEP community for their immense support, which has enabled me to pursue my education and build a brighter future. Thank you.
Present Status: Medical coder, OPTUM, Chennai.
